How we rank markets

Our rankings come only from public, broker-facing sources and from ratings left by brokers on this site. No market can pay to rank higher.

Where the scores come from

A market's Market Index score is the total of the points it has earned. Every entry links to its source.

Broker rated

Brokers can rate a market they have placed with on speed, appetite and claims. The broker rated badge appears once a market has ten or more ratings on whowritesthis.co.uk. Until then it shows as "Collecting". Each broker can rate a market once every 12 months, and ratings are shown separately from the public sources so you can always see which is which.

What we never do

• Take payment to rank a market higher.
• Hide a market because it has not paid us.
• Sell or share individual brokers' details.
